Abstract:
Ben will discuss techniques he is currently developing based on the use of piezoelectric elements, inductors and "exciters" (small speakers without membranes). Rather than approaching these components with the idea of using them to accurately encode or reproduce sounds generated by other objects, he is exploring methods of using them as musical instruments in and of themselves.
