Dear all,
We are excited to invite you to the presentation of the Game Design projects of the MDMI and MEI students of UMa, taking place next Monday. Here are the event details:
Date: Monday, 27th of May
Time: 14h
Location: Anfiteatro 1, UMa Building (Floor -2)
The event will feature four presentations, each lasting 20 minutes. These projects are the culmination of the work in game design for the following entities, and we are eager to share the results with you:
MARE Madeira (Home - MARE-Madeira)
There is increasing awareness about marine pollution and the impacts it has for both marine life and human health. But where does that pollution come from? Can we see it in our daily choices? What differences might we see on the ocean floor at Praia Formosa if we decide to go for single-used diapers for our newborns, which last for 450 years in the ocean, instead of reusable diapers?
Centro de Inclusão Social da Madeira (Centro de Inclusão Social da Madeira - IDR - Instituto de Desenvolvimento Regional, IP-RAM)
The Centro de Inclusão Social da Madeira (CISM) aims primarily at the social inclusion of people with disabilities, mostly intellectual disabilities. Through various approaches, it seeks to promote social inclusion by developing skills and adapting environments to enhance performance in desired occupations, whether social, occupational, or leisure activities.
Interactive Technologies Institute (Interactive Technologies Institute - Human-Computer Interaction (larsys.pt))
Mental health disorders are on the rise globally, with young adults being particularly vulnerable, experiencing higher levels of distress compared to the general population.
This challenge encourages game designers to explore the potential of games, including their interactivity, storytelling, and visual appeal, to tackle important issues related to mental health and well-being, aiming to create an educational experience that fosters emotional resilience, psychological empowerment, and self-care practices.
The IFCN - the Regional Forests and Conservation Institute (O IFCN (madeira.gov.pt))
The focus of this initiative is to increase awareness and knowledge about the Laurissilva Forest among children and teenagers from local schools, spanning ages 6 to 16, with potential subgroup divisions between 6-8, 8-12, and 13-16. The objective is to inform and instill awareness about the Laurissilva Forest, which boasts remarkable biodiversity and has existed for approximately 20 million years, recognized as a Tertiary Relic and designated a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, marking 25 years since its nomination.
We look forward to your attendance and hope you can join us for what promises to be an engaging and informative session.
Best regards,
Sergi Bermúdez and Mary Barreto
