The Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute and the University of Texas at Austin (Department of Radio-Television-Film) in collaboration with the Madeira Film Festival (MFF) are organizing the Madeira Film Festival - Interactive Digital Stories Track.

In its first edition, the MFF-Interactive Digital Stories Track aims to foster an international discussion about nature and sustainability, accepting interactive documentaries submissions themed in connection to these topics. The aim is to celebrate experimentation and the convergence of film, art, and new media technology to promote the emergence of documentary innovation. The track is looking for artworks which push the limits of traditional aesthetics and structures of filmmaking. MFF-Interactive Digital Stories Track encourages the participation of documentary makers from all over the world.

Call for entries

The call for entries starts on July 1 and will remain open until December 31, 2016. MFF-Interactive Digital Stories Track accepts original and completed non-fiction storytelling projects which promotes interactivity.  Submission is free of charge and must be done via Festhome.

The 10 best works selected by the jury will be shown in the 6th edition of the Madeira Film Festival (Madeira, Portugal, April 17-23, 2017), and be eligible for the "Best Interactive Digital Story".

The jury

The submitted projects will be judged based on artistic merit, technical excellence and their social and cultural relevance. The international jury is composed of both practitioners and academics in the field of media.
