Lab:USE will hold a information session on Wednesday 6th May from 5pm-6:30pm in the DME sala de documentação. It is open to the general public, but we are particularly focusing on UMa students. It will briefly introduce the Lab:USE research group and cover opportunities for further study and work in Madeira.
Please come along if you are interested in hearing about:
1. The Professional Masters of Human-Computer Interaction (a dual degree program with Carnegie Mellon University).
2. Independent PhD scholarships from FCT, Portugal’s science and technology funding agency.
3. Full-time research assistantships available from summer 2009. We have four research projects all of which are currently hiring. Initial contracts will be for 1 year and successful applicants will have the chance to renew these contracts or apply for PhD scholarships. The projects are:
- SINAIS: Sustainable Interaction with social Networks, context Awareness and Innovative Services (www.labuse.org/sinais)
- WESP: Web Security and Privacy (www.labuse.org/wesp)
- Madeira Life (www.labuse.org/madeiralife)
- Service Engineering (url to be confirmed)
4. Summer internships. We have a number of internships available on these four research projects. These will be 2-3 months in the July-Sept period.
Please come along the presentation, where faculty members will be available to introduce their projects and answer your questions.
Otherwise, please send any queries about this event to Ian Oakley (ian@uma.pt).
